Tylenol Autism Lawsuits

The Law Offices of Marc L. Shapiro, P.A., represents parents or guardians of children who were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder after prenatal exposure to Tylenol® or generic acetaminophen.

Autism Hits Home for Marc

After the birth of his first child, his life was transformed because of his son’s special needs with severe autism. He and his wife support and regularly volunteer with Autism Speaks and other autism awareness groups including STARability in Naples, Florida.

Marc ShapiroYou worry about having enough money to pay for medical bills, dread what will happen if you don’t recover, and suffer through the heartache that comes with realizing your life is no longer going to be the way you imagined it. That kind of stress weighs on you physically and mentally. It took me far too long, but I finally understood what my clients were going through and recognized the responsibility I had.

Tylenol®
(Acetaminophen)

Risks During Pregnancy
65% This is the percentage the CDC estimates women in the U.S. take Acetaminophen while pregnant.

Do I have a Case?

Studies show that the use of Tylenol or generic acetaminophen during pregnancy may increase the likelihood a child will be on the autism spectrum or have symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

In October 2019, a study published in  JAMA Psychiatry  discovered that children with the highest levels of acetaminophen metabolites in their blood at birth had the highest risk of the developmental disorders.

Prenatal exposure to Acetaminophen is associated with a 19% increased risk of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) symptoms and a 21% increased risk of ADHD symptoms.
In May 2021, a publication in the European Journal of Epidemiology indicated that children exposed to Tylenol during pregnancy were 19% more likely to have borderline or clinical autism spectrum disorders and 21% more likely to have ADHD symptoms compared to non-exposed children.

If you used an acetaminophen product such as Tylenol extensively during pregnancy and your child was later diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, you may qualify for financial compensation.
