Mrs. Baker is the  Director of Litigation and Client Services  at  The Law Offices of Marc L. Shapiro, P.A.  and is a  licensed attorney in Tennessee where she practiced law for eight years in medical malpractice, government representation and business litigation.

Prior to joining the office, Mrs. Baker held positions as  Compliance Officer of a charter school management company and as  Vice President of Operations of a life settlements provider.

Before moving to Naples, Florida, Mrs. Baker launched and managed the operations of  Educating Tomorrow’s Lawyers  at IAALS, (a legal institute at the University of Denver). The initiative served as a platform for collaboration of innovative teaching methods in order to better integrate legal doctrine with the preparation for the practice of law. After joining IAALS, the initiative launched just four months later.

Prior to her work in legal education, she practiced business litigation at  Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz, P.C., in its Nashville, Tennessee office. Mrs. Baker was also heavily involved with the firm’s  Pro Bono Program, summer associate mentoring and recruiting. After her first year as Pro Bono Committee Coordinator for the firm’s Nashville office, Baker Donelson was recognized with a statewide award as the law firm with outstanding pro bono leadership for its clinics that drafted wills and powers of attorney for the elderly.

Mrs. Baker also served as an  Assistant Attorney General at the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, in its Financial Division. During her tenure, she primarily represented the State Treasurer, the Department of Commerce and Insurance and the Department of Economic Community Development. In this role, Mrs. Baker also regularly defended constitutional challenges, including the successful defense to the ACLU’s challenge to a high-profile constitutional amendment at the State Supreme Court level.

Before entering law school, Mrs. Baker led the initial ramp-up and integration of the Core DNA Sequencing Facility at  Duke University Medical Center. She was responsible for the laboratory facility operations which included the design and implementation of processes that resulted in a five-fold increase in facility output levels.

Marnee L. Baker earned her J.D. from  Washington University School of Law and received her B.A. from Smith College where she majored in  Philosophy and minored in Ethics.
